Programme profile
In Econometrics, you will learn how to make the economy function more efficiently. You're not one to take economic laws on faith. You learn to think critically and innovatively. Are lower wages good for the economy? You're the econometrist – prove it! To do this you build a model and apply it to real economic data. As a result, econometrics is actually very applied in nature You capture econometric realities in mathematical models. Do you want to learn how this analysis translates into economic policy?
Programme content
The first year is all about your basic knowledge of mathematics, statistics, economics and finance. During the orientation courses, you will make acquaintance with the quantitative economics programmes of Econometrics, and Actuarial Science. You examine case studies and you will learn to work with advanced mathematical and statistical software such as Matlab, R and Eviews.
In the second and third year, you will take mandatory courses and select your electives for each period. Mathematical Economics, Econometrics 1 and 2 and Time Series Analysis for example. In the third year you can choose to study one semester abroad, to take a minor or to attend a special programme on finance and big data analysis. In this special programme it is also possible to choose to do an internship. The programme is concluded with a thesis based on your own literature study or practical research. .
The first two academic years of the BSc Econometrics are in common with the Bachelor's programme in Actuarial Science. As a result, you can switch to this programme in the third year

Three A-Levels (including Maths, at C) and three GCSEs
